The Plymouth Fire Department conducted several "live fire" training evolutions recently in a house that was scheduled for demolition to make room for a new subdivision. Throughout the months of May and June 2004, several fires were started in the house so that some of the younger firefighters could get some live fire experience. This also allowed some of the Officer's that normally do not get to do "first in reports" the opportunity to practice their training. Prior to the final burn, several techniques in self-rescue as well as rescuing downed firefighters were taught and practiced. These included wall breaches, and extricating a firefighter from a lower level. The house that was used for training is typical for the "older" type of farm houses located throughout the County. |
